Summer Music Camps

Progressive Academy will be hosting two different weeks of Summer Music Camp during the 2024 summer. One for students in grades 1 to 6, and one for students in grades 7 to 12. This Summer Music Camp is all about learning to play music in a group. If your child is enrolled in private music lessons and wants to expand their skill set, this is a perfect opportunity. Students being registered in these camps should have had at least one year of private lessons on their instrument. The Summer Music Camp will put together an ensemble of the enrolled group of students; they will choose a couple tunes to learn and play together with lots of time dedicated to rehearsing, they will attend a field trip to explore the technology needed to record one song, and perform their set at the end of the week. This camp aims to develop community, incorporate team building, and use enriching experiences through working together as a band to enable students to capitalize on future opportunities in their music moving forwards. This goal is achieved through giving students the tools and skills needed to form long lasting relationships within a band. This camp is also for students who want to learn how to connect the dots between their music and using the technology that is available to them.

The field trip for the students in grades 7 to 12 is the recording studio in Allard Hall at MacEwan University. This is an excellent opportunity for any students who are interested in the technology side of music as well. The field trip for the students in grades 1 to 6 is the recording studios at Stanley A. Milner Library. This is a chance to explore a resource that is available to anyone who has an EPL library card.

The camp dates are:

Grade 7 to 12 camp: July 15-19 (field trip to MacEwan University recording studios)

Grade 1 to 6 camp: August 12-16 (field trip to Stanley A. Milner Library recording studios)

Once you fill out the online registration form, please look out for an email from Reinette. She will be providing follow up information depending on which camp you are signed up for. You can also reach out to her directly if you have any questions:

**Please note that signing up does not guarantee you a spot. We may need to adjust the acceptance of students to ensure a successful camp that accommodates different age and instrument groupings.
