Music Lessons

As a recent article from the Globe and Mail says: “Music is an essential part of a child’s cognitive development.” Progressive Academy believes that a balanced school program includes exposure to the arts, including music. Every student attending Progressive Academy gets regular class music lessons as a part of the regular school day.

In addition to this we offer private music lessons, in a variety of instruments, that students can take during the day.

If you are interested in music lessons for your child, please fill in the form below. Students may join the program at any point in the year, however the program is filled on a first-come first-serve basis. Once the form has been sent in, Reinette will contact you with information. In the meantime, take some time to meet our music teachers and take a look at the Frequently Asked Questions page.

The in and after school lessons are 30 minutes long and once a week for students who are interested in learning how to play the drums. Drums set the pace and the tempo for music. There is a reason that you will find drums in almost every genre of music, ranging from African tribal songs to pop hits. Coordination, enhanced creative and social skills, and increasing your understanding of music are reasons as to why one would want to learn how to play the drums. The drum lessons offered will be focused on the typical rock kit, however other styles are available depending on the interest of the student.
